When handling so many applications at once, it is easy to lose track of those students who are at risk of dropping out or withdrawing their application. Here you will find out how to effectively track and manage these applications, so that you have a clear idea of enrolment numbers well in advance.

When designing a conversation on Purlos, you have the ability to add 'Labels' to any of your conversations. Some of these Labels are Risk Classification and Risk Reasons.

Firstly, you can change a student's Risk Classification with;

  • High Risk

  • Medium Risk

  • Low Risk

These should be used when the student follows a specific conversation path that suggests they are at risk of dropping out. For example, if a student confirms that your college is their 3rd choice, this would make them at 'High Risk' of not enrolling.

Next, if the student would like to withdraw their application they can be labelled based on their reasoning. If the student is provided with common Withdrawal Reasons, they can be labelled using the following labels;

  • Reason Travel

  • Reason Unsuitable Course Timings

  • Reason Mental Health

  • Reason Staff Issues

  • Reason Employment

  • Reason Course Selection

  • Reason College Choice

  • Reason Career Change

It is important to provide the student with options to select from when surveying them. This way, you can tailor the follow on responses and the Withdrawal Reasons can be labelled accurately.

Also, we have created standard templates that are publicly available for all users, which have the risk classification labels already placed in the conversation. When selecting a template be sure to place the 'Public' filter as seen below to access these templates:

Once you have labelled the at risk students, you need to be able to easily locate them in one location. Over on your 'Engage Dashboard' you will find a 'High Risk Students' table at the bottom of the page. This is where you can view the most at risk students, and also the reason for their risk if known.

Now that you've collated the most at risk students, you can tailor your support and engagement to these learners in an attempt to turn them around and enrol.
